Q&A

So that clumsy person at your party just spilled RED WINE on your white carpet!!!

They may have been bumped or heck they may just be drunk, but what do you do now?!?!?! This article contains some ways to help clean up those pesky stains. Please, do not yell at the clumsy guest. Your carpet  is not ruined, if you act quickly the stain will come up! So just breathe and read on……

First off….ALWAYS BLOT!!!….If you do not know what this means call or email us and I will explain it!

I have so many customers that have made stains worse by rubbing them. If you rub, the stain will spread  out and get pushed farther down in to the carpet.

  • Blot with cloth
    • Combine 1 teaspoon of carpet shampoo or Dawn dish soap and 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide in small bowl
    • Soak clean sponge in the mixture and squeeze half way dry
    • Blot the stain with warm water and blot dry with cloth
  • Pour white wine over stained area
    • Blot
    • White wine will help neutralize the red wine and make it easier to lift
    • CRAZY RIGHT?!?
  • Get salt and sprinkle on area
    • Cover salt with white cloth or paper towel and add weight
    • Leave until morning and vacuum

You can also try Oxyclean or a product called ‘Wine Away’. Scheduling a carpet cleaning will help remove the stain as well (you know I had to try to sell the company at some point). If you have any other suggestions please let us know! It is always interesting to find out what old wives tales work.
